Santa Barbara Window Forensics was founded by Brian Larkowski in an effort to solve issues involving the complexities of door and window installation.

Brian has been involved in the construction industry for over 25 years. In the Early 80's, he began as a laborer & apprentice. After achieving journeyman status, he gravitated toward finish carpentry and window and door installation. In 1992, he became a licensed general contractor in California, (Lic. #643754).

Although he has a broad range of construction knowledge, Brian saw the need for window and door installation specialists from the earliest days of his career. Realizing that this was an area where he could make an impact, Brian decided to explore all areas of the business to get the big picture.

Through his career, Brian has installed thousands of window & door units. In 1993, he was awarded his first of two United States patents on exterior window molding and installation systems. He has since worked in sales, service and as a territory manager for multiple window and door companies ranging from vinyl and aluminum to wood, clad and fiberglass. While attending factory tours and training in many cities across the nation, he's learned quite a bit about the manufacturing aspect as well as testing requirements and the glazing process.

In recent years, Brian has conducted trainings in the Santa Barbara area, teaching proper weatherization techniques to builders, architects and local building officials. He's a published author of a weatherization text book and conducts weatherization courses at Allan Hancock College. He has also been a guest speaker for design classes and the Construction Academy at Santa Barbara City College.

Brian is a Certified Installation Master #700001517, (a program developed by AAMA) and a member of the Santa Barbara Contractor's Association and Built Green Santa Barbara. He has undergone intensive training in regards to AAMA and ASTM standards and approved methods.

Through knowledge, experience and by use of a scientific approach we are focused on the areas of training, flashing systems design/implementation and investigative testing of existing units to determine causes and solutions of water intrusion issues.

Witness services are also offered as required including detailed reports with investigative findings and recommendations.

We provide a host of field testing services for both residential and commercial projects, performed to specific AAMA and ASTM standards.
